Research codes
Scientific standards are defined by government regulations, institute policies, professional codes of ethics, and commonly accepted practices. At the same time, not every ethical dilemma or responsible action will be addressed by existing standards. A key aspect of Good Research Practice & Integrity is the use of good judgment and personal integrity.

The Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity respects the scope of international framework documents such as:
- Singapore Statement on Research Integrity
- OECD’s Best Practices for Ensuring Scientific Integrity and Preventing Misconduct
- ALLEA’s recently revised European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity
In compliance with the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, LUMC works on further promoting and safeguarding Good Research Practices & Scientific Integrity. The Academic Integrity Complaints Regulation gives guidance to any person considering to submit a complaint, if he or she suspects an employee of Leiden University or the Leiden University Medical Center of committing or having committed a violation of academic integrity.
